Yard Sale

We will be having our yard sale fundraiser next Thursday through Saturday, July 14-16.  Our garage is almost full of toys, furniture, home decor, kids clothes, shoes, purses, men's and women's clothes, and so much more!  We have been blessed with all of the donations from friends, families, and even strangers!  

We will be open from 8am until it slows down (or we get too tired).  We would love some extra hands to help customers, help with checking out, and also with the girls' lemonade stand.  We'd also like to invite you to come shop!  We will accept cash and credit cards.  I'll try to post some pictures but, honestly, it's so crowded in the garage it's hard to get a good picture of anything!  I'm still getting donations.

I know that at some level it would be easier to donate all of the stuff to Goodwill and just take the tax credit.  However, I also want our children to see the work we are willing to put forth and the sacrifice and to give up some of their things as well.  And I think that sometimes my heart needs that as well.  It humbles me and stretches me and pushes me until I have to reach out to God in those moments where I feel that I can't go on.  With the hectic summer that we are having, I'm pretty much at that point.  Ric looked at me yesterday as I got home after being home a week and driving almost every other day during that trip.  He knew that's not the kind of schedule I like to keep.  As he acknowledged that I started to cry.  (He's learning that when I cry it's often because he said something that I need to hear).  

One day when I was painting and our oldest was watching I stopped and looked at her as I took her hand and said, "Do you know that if we were trying to adopt you that Mommy would be doing all of this work just to bring you home?"  She smiled and seemed to like that thought.
